We want to send things over to news. Twelve's Lisa Laak driving around on the sawmill this morning and Lisa not much going on right now, but the concern is into the afternoon, slippery travel developing kind of all throughout the Hudson Valley. Exactly. Yeah. Good morning to you, Matt. Good morning, everyone. So we're driving around in thunderbolt. Let me get you outside. Take a look and see just dry conditions. I mean, if you're about to leave now you're gold and you got no problems whatsoever. Like Matt said, it might be a little bit later in the morning where you start to have to watch. You know, the biggest concern. We've got ice everywhere because of these frigid temperatures. I'm sure many of you, it's a balancing act just getting into your car and your driveway. If you're like mine, my old driveway is like three inches of thick ice. It's awful. So that's going to be your biggest problem right now getting out this morning, but it's later on once the snow starts to fall. But you can see roads are completely dry at this point. No problems with the on off ramps. Been enough time. For DPW crews to get out there and salt and with all the icy spots here and there. So you shouldn't have any problems at all. But we're going to keep driving around throughout the morning. We'll keep an eye on things that, you know, when the snow starts to fall and let you know how the roads are looking as well. But again, if you're leaving now you are good to go.

Right now, we turn to news twelve's Lisa, La Rocka driving around in the not so elements just yet. But as we go throughout the morning, we expect that light snow to develop and Lisa the problems not right now, but this afternoon we do expect those slippery conditions to develop. That's the issue. Absolutely. Yeah. And you know that my concern also is like the ice that's already out there and now we're going to have snow on top of it. Let me just show you something. We're, we're in Elmsford right now just about to pull on to route nine A. We were here a week ago. Remember this spot right here was basically where, just right where Sam's is, this was all on water where we're driving right now. There were cars actually stuck out and there were several, it was like several feet of water here. So what a difference a week makes. So as you can see though, no problems whatsoever. We were driving on the sawmill just a while ago and smooth sailing. If you're leaving now, you're good to go. You won't have any issues at all, like I said, you know, but you can see on either side, you know, there's, and I'm sure enough to tell any of you, I'm sure on your driveways on your sidewalks in your neighborhoods, you see the ice and that is a big problem. That's my concern is that we have that thick layer of ice everywhere. That is that the snow is going to fall on top of. And so that's just something to keep, keep in mind as the day goes on. But right now we haven't even seen any flakes yet. So if you are leaving for work or you're getting ready for school or whatever, no problem whatsoever, completely dry conditions and you're good to go. So we're going to continue to drive around in thunderbolt throughout the morning. We'll let you know when we start to see some of those flakes fall.

We wanna check out those roads. So news twelve's Lisa, La Rock is long 287 and not much going on right now, Lisa. But the concern is as we go throughout the day, slippery conditions would we will develop. And as you were mentioning earlier, there are already still some lingering areas of ice that you might not be able to see once it gets covered by some snow. Yeah, and you know that that's my, that's my concern. Let me get you outside thunderbolt and show you what we're seeing here on 287 just east. We just getting up to the White Plains area just starting to see more volume on the roads. But that's but no snow not seeing any flakes falling just yet. So again, if you're just about getting ready to leave, you're good to go. You have any issues at all. It later on in the morning, later in the day that we'll start to see some of that snow falling. And again, I said, you know, my concern is that the layers of ice that you see on your driveway, on the sidewalks and good luck trying to find rocks off, I went to four different places around Westchester yesterday and everybody is sold out. So that ice is really an issue and that's something that will need to just kind of be wary about as the snow starts to fall. But again, at this point, and, you know, talking with DPW crews earlier this week, they said, you know, we just finished this last one on Monday, Tuesday, that was kind of brought everything, snow, rain, ice and now they were preparing for today. So they have the salt and sand and brine ready to go and their plows as well. Although like Matt is saying, you know, we're looking at two or three inches so may not even be much of a plow event. But in the meantime, though, we'll be out in thunderbolt, we'll keep an eye on things for you, but so far so good, you're not going to have any issues as you make your way out today.

But we do get clipped by areas of light snow as we go throughout the day, especially after nine o'clock this morning and through around two o'clock this afternoon after that, this is tapering off the flurries already. So it's a narrow window of time that we get to pick up this up to two inch snowfall. And I would think more spots across the lower Hudson Valley are going to end up with that one inch total versus the two. But this could still lead to some slippery travel throughout the day. So we are already taking a look at the road conditions for which right now are fine across the lower Hudson Valley. But news told Lisa Laak driving around in Thunderbolt 12 in the White Plains area now. And Lisa, you know, you've been talking about this and me as well. You know, we're concerned about two things here. One, the slippery travel from the snow that will develop throughout the day. But also there are still some areas of ice to watch out for as well. Oh, sure, absolutely. I mean, some areas you're talking about some really, really thick ice. So let's show you we're driving around White Plains, really pretty quiet this morning. But you can see right there on the sidewalks as we're driving around there's still slippery spots and that's that because we have these frigid frigid temperatures that, that ice that we got from the storm. That was Monday, Tuesday just has not gone away. I don't know about any of you. I have such thick ice on my driveway. It's absolutely awful and good luck trying to find rock salt anywhere. It is sold out everywhere you go. So, uh, that's my big concern is that, you know, even though like Matt is talking about not a lot of snow, that's a concern that it's just going to be so slippery with that ice underneath. So, uh, right now though, I mean, we've been driving around Saw Mill 287 through Elmsford now through White Plains and you can see completely dry, uh DPW crews. I spoke to them earlier in the week and they said, you know, we got through the storm earlier in the week and now we're focusing on the one that was coming today and they're ready with more sand and salt and brine and plows and ready to go. So they're just waiting like the rest of us for the flakes to start falling. But if you are getting ready to leave right now, you are good to go. As you can see, roads are dry, everything's looking good.

So snowfall totals will average close to one inch. A trace to two inches is the general range for the entire lower Hudson Valley. So again, this is not a big storm in terms of totals. But my concern is you hear that this is not a big storm in terms of totals and you might let your guard down a little bit. I don't want you to do that as conditions will become slippery throughout the day. And for more on the roads right now where we expect them to be as we go into the afternoon news twelve's Lisa, La Rock continues to drive around in White Plains and Thunderbolt 12 with more there, Lisa, right? Matt, you know, we're not seeing where we are. We just passed by Stepan and America Avenue here and we haven't seen any flurries just yet, but we're heading in that area that you said we should be seeing something or depending on where you are, you might start to see some flurries. But right now you can see the roads are clear, looking good, but like we were talking about all morning, you can see because of these really, really cold temperatures that we've had, everything is iced over, that's still there, that's still left. And that's certainly the concern that we're going to have snow on top of that. And then you have that ice layer underneath. So that could be a problem. The roads are good, but, you know, some of the sidewalks and the side streets, those are areas that you'll have to be careful of in some spots. The, you know, the ice is just so, so thick, it's impossible almost to walk around. So just keep aware of that what's underneath there. But like, and also like Matt said, it's not going to be a huge snow event, but just enough that where once the snow starts falling, things can get slippery. DPW crews that I've spoken to earlier in the week, they said they were planning getting ready for all of it. So they are on top of it as well. Just waiting for those first flakes to start falling. But again, like I've been saying this morning, if you're getting ready to take off, getting ready to leave and out of the house, you're good to go. You're golden. No problem at all, no problems on the road. So, but we'll keep an eye on things for you. Let you know when we start to see any of that accumulation happening in our area.

Is due to deteriorate a little bit into the afternoon hours, but not a really big storm in terms of snowfall totals. Right now, we want to check out those roads which overall have been fine to start the day. It will look a lot different as we go into the afternoon, even though this will be a light snow. So as we go throughout the morning, we wanna keep you apprised of the road conditions and for more on that. Uh Now here's news twelve's Lisa Laak driving around thunderbolt 12 in the Mamaroneck area this morning, Lisa. Yeah. Good morning to ma good morning everyone. Yeah, we just passed Sal's. I don't know if they're open, we'll go get a corner slice of the Sicilian best around. So driving through Maaran, take a look all looking good right now. We've been all over this morning and again, uh roads are all looking good and, and you know, if you've been watching us this morning, Matt and I have been talking about the fact that, you know, uh when that snow starts to fall. Uh the concern is you got all that ice from earlier this week, that storm that went from snow to rain to ice. It was just awful what was left behind. So that's something you need to be careful about. So, but as far as driving around your morning commute, getting to work, you'll be, you'll be in good shape there because nothing you can see there's some plow right there getting ready to do battle. You know, we were talking with DPW crews earlier this week after they had just finished with the, uh, with the storm on Monday, Tuesday and said, you know, now we're preparing for today. We'll have the, uh, the salt down and we'll have the brine down and let's take a look. Yeah, let's go into the harbor. This is so pretty in here, especially just as the sun is coming up. So let's give you a nice little view there. Look at how gorgeous that is this time of day with all the snow and more to be added. So, uh, we'll keep driving around and let you know when we start to see things happening.

The more I lean towards the lighter end of the snowfall totals, which I'll show you in just a second. But from right now and through the early part of the afternoon, it's scattered areas of light snow and flurries. That is it, this never gets to even moderate or heavy snow. And even after around close to one o'clock this afternoon, this is already fizzling out to flurries. At that point, there's a lot of dry air over the lower Hudson Valley and more dry air will be building in from the north through the afternoon that will help to shut off any steady light snow that's even around. This is really going to be more of a storm for areas two hours south over the lower Hudson Valley, it is a trace to two inches. And again, I'm leaning towards around a coating to an inch of snow in most locations that does not mean completely let your guard down though there can be a few slick spots through the afternoon and into the evening community. Even though the snow, we turn to news twelve's Lisa, the rock who's been driving around in thunderbolt 12 and Lisa not much going on to start the day. But, you know, we're just concerned for some of those slippery spots as the day goes on. Absolutely. Yeah, it's been a good morning drive as we've made our way around Southern Westchester today. Just take a look right now. Let me move this over. We were, we are on the cross county right now and you can see things are moving along well, roads dry, so, no real problems here. Just like Matt was talking about, we need to watch out. Even though this is not going to be a major snow event. We're still going to have some issues on the roads with it, especially because we still have some remnants of the storm from earlier in the week, especially the ice. That's the main concern when you have the snow falling on top of the ice and it's just, it's a mess and in some areas that ice is so, so thick and really hard to get around. So just be aware of that. But so far this morning, it's actually been great. It's just so very cold out there right now. It's more about the temperatures making sure you're all bundled up and just kind of be aware, be prepared for later on in the day, later this afternoon as you start driving around and you have to just kind of be a little more aware. But if you're getting ready to leave right now, you're just heading out the door. You are gold and you're good to go. You shouldn't have any problems, at least anything that has to do with the weather. So we'll continue to drive around that. You know what we're seeing in the meantime, want to check in with Karina. She is in the alert center that what's happening.

All right, thank you so much about the main concern on the roads is going to be the ice as these temperatures stay so cold. Yeah, Lisa, the rock is actually driving around in thunderbolt 12 with a look outside Lisa. Yeah. Well, so far, I mean, again, so far so good, let me show you what we're seeing right now on the Saw Mill River Parkway. We just have, you know, your typical traffic, but as far as slippery conditions, not yet. But you heard that that's going to be the concern later and of course, we still have remnants of the storm from earlier in the week and there's a lot of ice out there because of these fridge, frigid cold temperatures that we've been dealing with all week. So you kind of put that all together and could be some issues for later. Again, like Matt is saying, we're not going to have a major snow event, but just enough for you, you're going to have to kind of just be extra careful if you're going to be out on the roadways and DPW crews I spoke to earlier in the week and they said they had their eye on this next weather event, the snow, they were ready been a little busy the last couple of weeks between the flooding that we've had and then on Monday, Tuesday we had snow, rain and ice. And now of course, you can see it's, uh, it's still around, you know, you still have to be careful of, of that right there. So, uh, we will continue to drive around thunderbolt. We'll let you know exactly what we're seeing. So, uh, and keep you updated. All right, let's go back to the studio.
