A wind advisory has been issued through 10 p.m. for the possibility of damaging winds. It's a good idea to secure any Christmas decorations.
These winds may be too strong tonight for Fanwood's Famous Christmas Houses at 83 and 87 Paterson Road.
"We have 175 feet of continuous Christmas joy, 50 inflatables, way over 50,000 lights," says Greg Roser owner of Fanwood's Famous Christmas Houses. "Gets bigger every year."
Roser has been decorating for nearly four decades. So the reindeer and snowmen have gone through the snow, rain and wind before.
"They are very well-anchored, but they could tear, so if it gets excessively windy and gusty, I may shut them down," says Roser. "You just have to be careful and make it work. I will not be defeated."
Lights are on every day from 4 to 10 p.m. - depending on these 30 to 50 mph winds.
"Every dollar I collect goes to New Jersey Institute for Disabilities, a local charity in Edison, New Jersey," said Roser. "Saturday Dec. 7 from 4:30 to 7 p.m., every child gets a gift, no charge to visit Santa. Fanwood Police and PBA are here giving out refreshments. It's a wonderful community event."
