While many lined up to save some extra dollars on their holiday shopping, many in Rockland County found other ways to spend their Black Friday.
When North Rockland graduate Brian Casey lost his battle with cancer back in 1995, his friends and family decided to honor his memory with a traditional touch football tournament the day after Thanksgiving. Casey was a football and lacrosse athlete who died at the age of 19.
?It?s like a second Thanksgiving,? said Casey?s stepfather. ?They?re out here because they want to make sure and remember Brian and we really appreciate that.?
Others took advantage of the sunny day by getting a head start on Christmas decorations while some avoided work altogether enjoying a quiet day at home.
?I?m obsessed with [decorating],? said Heidi Leon of Garnerville. ?I love it.?
