Three Bronx football athletes and a Bronx coach joined the New York State team to compete in the 10th Varsity Gold New York, New Jersey All Star Classic.
Mount St. Michael's Cavar Reid, John F. Kennedy High School's Stefon Green, Jerry Housey are part of the best high school senior football players in the state. Alex Vega, Kennedy school's head coach traveled to Rutgers for the game with the team. Green was the captain for the New York team and stepped onto the field for the first time since he broke his ankle in the fall.
New York built a 14-0 half time lead. New Jersey scored a last minute touchdown to beat New York 21-14.
