The Town of Harrison will pay $425,000 as part of a settlement in a federal civil rights lawsuit involving the sexual harassment of a female firefighter.
The federal government had filed the lawsuit last year claiming the town and fire department retaliated against former firefighter Angela Bommarito, who was subjected to unwanted sexual advances and harassed by a senior male firefighter.
The town will also need to follow a consent decree that addresses discrimination within the ranks for the next two years.
