The Town of Wallkill held a meeting Thursday night to propose noise ordinances at the Orange County fairgrounds.
It would impact future events at the fairgrounds and the speedway for the rest of this year.
More than a dozen people spoke out about the proposal at town hall in Middletown.
Some say ordinances could also stifle business. Others, however, like "The Wallkill Living Center" say while seniors welcome the events, the noise is a lot to handle.
The board says while it supports mass events on the fairgrounds, the events have to be respectful of everyone in the town.
Some suggested solutions include a noise curfew and a permitting process that would screen the types of events that can be held at the fairgrounds.
