It was a traffic nightmare on the New York State Thruway Wednesday for Westchester and Hudson Valley commuters.
Three southbound lanes of the Thruway were closed for three hours near the Palisades Center Mall at exit 12 before the Tappan Zee Bridge. Police say a tractor-trailer rear-ended another tractor-trailer, which then hit two cars around 6:30 a.m. None of the drivers involved were seriously injured.
The Rockland County haz-mat team had to clean up fuel spilled from the tractor-trailer. Traffic on both sides of the Thruway was backed up for miles while crews clear the accident scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
