It appears a fundraiser planned for presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will not be taking place in Suffern today.

The chairman of the Rockland Democratic Party says as a result, a planned protest has been canceled.

The protest was scheduled to be held outside the Crown Plaza Hotel, where the Florida governor was holding a $6,600 per ticket fundraiser.

Party Chairman Schenley Vital says he's been told plans for police security at the event have been canceled. Vital says he hopes to have a more formal statement later today.

News 12 has not heard back from the DeSantis campaign as to why the event may be canceled.
