A tractor-trailer slammed into an overpass on the Saw Mill River Parkway Wednesday, causing a traffic nightmare during the morning rush hour.
According to police, the driver of the tractor-trailer meant to get off I-287 and onto I-684, but took a wrong turn at around 4:30 a.m. and ended up wedged under the Manville Road Overpass in Pleasantville.
It took a towing crew six hours to get the disabled vehicle, loaded with diapers and toilet paper, off the road. Workers had to cut off the trailer's gear, slide the vehicle onto a flatbed truck and secure it with heavy chains before hauling it away.
Westchester County police say they get reports of trucks traveling on the parkways more than once a day, but drivers normally get off the road or stop before causing any damage.
No one was injured in the accident, but the driver was given two tickets.
