Bronx commuters say they?re confused and upset after some of their rail commute times have doubled due to construction.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) attributes the confusion to a track replacement project on the 6 train line. Commuters complain that there are too many last-minute service changes, missed stops and delayed trains. Some even say the mix-ups have caused them to travel in the wrong direction. Riders say the confusion causes them to be repeatedly late for work and even miss workdays.
MTA officials say the process of replacing the tracks can be expected to last until the end of the year. They also insist the majority of the construction is done at night in an effort to minimize the effect on commuters. However, Hunts Point residents insist that something needs to be done sooner to solve the incessant commute problems.
