Heavy rain caused serious flooding in parts of the Bronx on Friday morning.

News 12 cameras captured floodwater outside the Pelham Parkway subway station, near the intersection of Laconia Avenue and Esplanade.

Drivers struggled to navigate the high water as pedestrians attempted to cross the street nearby.

"How am I going to get to work?" commuter Amanda Baly said. "How am I going to actually make sure my commute is safe and sound?"

This is not the first time the intersection of Laconia Avenue and Esplanade has turned into pools of water.

News 12 cameras were at the intersection on Aug. 4 and again on Aug. 27 when rain brought serious flooding to the area.

“I just moved here, thinking it was a good neighborhood," Baly said, "and I’m sure it is. It’s just unfortunate we have to go through this sort of thing.”

Some neighbors blamed clogged catch basins for the flooding.

“They have to take care of it," one neighbor said. "Before the storm, they have to check it and clean it.”

A spokesperson from the city's Department of Environmental Protection tells News 12 a DEP crew is on the scene and is clearing catch basins that are clogged with leaves. They are also flushing the sewer. DEP reminds New Yorkers to help clear leaves from catch basins because they block water flow into the basins, which causes flooding.

New Yorkers who notice clogged storm drains are advised to call 311.

New York City officials remind New Yorkers never to walk or drive through floodwater.
