Students in a Tremont elementary school are stepping their way into the Irish culture.
Third to fifth-grade students at P.S. 59 are not from Ireland, but have been grooving to an Irish beat for years. They are part of the Celtic Dream Irish Dancers, an after school program. The music teacher showed the kids a few steps and they fell in love with Irish dancing. The group has performed all over the city. Currently they are preparing for the Irish Connections Festival in Boston.
Even though the students are getting ready to graduate, their instructor says they will leave with a greater appreciation of other cultures.
