A truck lost its brakes Monday afternoon causing a multi-car crash in Rockland.
Police say the accident happened near the intersection of Snake Hill Road and Route 203 in West Nyack. The driver of a Runnion Equipment flatbed truck crashed into a minivan, which crashed into another SUV. The flatbed hit another SUV and then a Shop Rite tractor-trailer. HAZMAT and fire crews also had to be called in after the flatbed began leaking diesel fuel and battery acid.
The driver of the minivan is in stable condition at Nyack Hospital. The other passengers suffered only minor injuries. The truck that lost it brakes is being taken in for a safety inspection.
