Two apartments were destroyed Monday when a fire ripped through a building at 1140 Clay Avenue.
About 100 residents were evacuated at around 6:30 a.m. when the fire broke out and were let back in about two hours later. Two families were left to find shelter after their apartments were destroyed. Luckily, no one was injured.
Fire officials believe the fire started in the kitchen of a fourth-floor apartment and quickly spread to the fifth floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire officials say it does not appear to be suspicious.
