A Ukrainian meat shop in Yonkers has experienced an influx of customers since the start of the war with Russia, as Ukraine living in the area look for a reminder of home.
Yonkers Miasamia is the only Ukrainian meat shop in all of Westchester County.
"For years everybody called us the Polish deli, and that's great," says owner Lisa Krawec.
It's been a common misconception until recently.
"The flag has always been hanging in the corner of the store, and people started to ask, 'Are you Ukrainian? Are you guys Ukrainian?' And I said, 'Yes, we are,"' says Krawec.
With the Ukrainian Orthodox Easter on Sunday, it's been busy and different this time around.
"I don't know that there will be the big masses and the big processionals that were a year ago today…to be able to celebrate on their behalf," says Krawec.
The Easter baskets from the store hold foods and meats that are a must for the holiday.
Krawec says the sense of community and support helps. She urges everyone to keep praying for the people of Ukraine "because they are a strong bunch."
