Unemployment is decreasing across the Bronx, according to the New York State Department of Labor.
February?s unemployment rate in the borough was 7.3 percent, compared to 8.1 percent for the same time last year. The Department of Labor says that translates to 3,200 more jobs for Bronx residents. The borough added 1,500 new jobs between January and February of 2006.
The Bronx?s unemployment rate is still higher than the rate across the city, state and nation.
