The lights were back on in University Heights homes and businesses Friday, but residents are adding up their losses from the blackout.

Residents say they slept on air-conditioned city buses and were forced to buy groceries daily so food wouldn?t spoil like the perishables in their fridges. Many Bronx Con Edison customers plan to fill out reimbursement forms to get the $350 the utility company is offering them. Business owners say their losses are more substantial and they feel the $7,000 cap from Con Edison isn?t enough. One deli owner claims he lost about $10,000 in sales, food and other expenses over two days.

Con Edison says it does not plan to reduce electric bills to compensate customers for the outage.
