Pentagon officials are reporting that five U.S. troops in Iraq have been killed by a fellow soldier.
The shooting happened at Camp Liberty, a U.S. base on the western edge of Baghdad. Most of the troops based at Camp Liberty are American, but troops from other countries also operate out of the base.
A brief U.S. statement said the soldier "suspected of being involved with the shooting" was in custody, but gave no further details. It was unclear what provoked the alleged attack.
AP wire services were used in this report.
