A new report says
this Father's Day could set a new record for how much people spend on gifts and
other items for Dad.
The National
Retail Federation is predicting that consumers will spend over $20 billion.
That would be the most Father's Day spending ever
and much more than the $17 billion spent last year.
Survey respondents
say they plan to spend an average of $174 on Father's Day items, or $26 more
than last year.
Special outings, clothing and consumer electronics are among
top three spending categories.
