USPS proposes raising price of first-class stamps

Stamp prices could be going up again this summer.
The United States Postal Service is proposing a four-cent increase for its First-Class Mail Forever Stamp.
If approved, that would bring the price to 82 cents, starting July 12.
The proposed hike comes as USPS faces financial pressures, such as declining mail volume, high operating costs and pension obligations.
"The Postal Service is using all available tools, including available regulatory pricing authority, to ensure we can continue to fulfill our universal service obligation and serve the American public," the agency said in a press release on Thursday.
The move, which still needs final approval, would mark the eighth stamp price increase since 2021.
