Con Edison and Orange & Rockland Utilities have agreed to pay $82 million for the way they mishandled recent emergencies, including Tropical Storm Isaias last year.
Central Hudson and Gas will pay $1.5 million.
The August 2020 storm at its peak impacted over 900,000 customers.
Money from the settlements will be used to offset costs that would have been otherwise fell to customers.
The settlement was accepted by the State Public Service Commission.
A Con Ed spokesman noted that Isaias was the second most destructive storm in the region's history.
He says improvements made since then to Con Ed's energy-delivery systems have reduced storm outages by about 20%.
