Vanderhoef seeks support for $130M nursing home
Dreams of a new $130 million, state-of-the-art nursing home in Rockland County are a step away from reality, according to County Executive Scott Vanderhoef.
The new nursing home would replace the county?s current one and contain 322 beds and a 57-bed acute care hospital, while the older facility will become office space, the county executive says.
?The timing is right. Our facility is old and it really needs to be replaced,? Vanderhoef says.
Cicero Consulting Associates, which helped gain state approval for the project, went in front of the county legislature seeking an OK on the plan. According to the consulting firm, the new nursing home would bring in dialysis treatment, an expanded adult day health care program and outpatient primary care.
?Our population is increasing which means our needs for both hospital acute care and nursing care beds will increase dramatically in the years to come and that's why this is the appropriate time,? says Vanderhoef.
