Victims still in hospital after gas explosion in Wappingers Falls
Seven people are still hospitalized after a gas explosion at a home in Dutchess County.
Four people are in good condition and three remain in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla after an apparent gas leak led to the explosion of a building that housed four apartments in Wappingers Falls. Officials say a certified contractor was replacing older natural gas lines in the area as part of a regular maintenance program when it happened.
The region has been providing hotel rooms and financial resources to help displaced residents.
It has also contributed $50,000 to the Wappingers Falls PBA in support of the ongoing service to the public.
