A water main break sent water rushing down Hollowbrook Lane in the Town of Cortlandt Thursday afternoon, impacting roughly 100 homes.
Video provided to News 12 by a viewer captured the water flowing down the roadway.
Town officials said crews were working on replacing existing pipes as part of a water main improvement project when the disruption occurred.
Christopher Gross, the town’s director of environmental services, said a contractor was installing a new main while the existing main remained active. According to Gross, interference with a rock during digging caused the disruption.
Gross said temporary fluctuations in water pressure are possible in the area while crews complete repairs. The work was expected to be finished Thursday.
