Police have increased security at Warwick Valley High School after a week of violent threats circulated on the Web.
Police say threats of satanic acts and bringing guns to the school have been traveling around the hallways, mostly through e-mails and on the Internet. Students told News 12 Hudson Valley the threats could be originating from friends of a 16-year-old who allegedly committed suicide almost two weeks ago. Students say people thought the teen?s friends were going to take revenge because other students were mean to the dead teen. Another motive police are considering is the anniversary of a satanic cult on September 19. So far police have no hard evidence or suspects.
A letter explaining the threat and police investigation was posted on the school?s Web site and sent home to parents. School officials say everything is safe and they are calling the threats rumors.
