The Lopez family immigrated to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic and opened Vilma's Bakery in 2011.
People come to the Haverstraw location from all over to satisfy their sweet tooth with treats like Dominican cakes, fresh breads and desserts.
The bakery closed for a few weeks during the height of the pandemic but when they opened back up, people came rushing back to get their fix of sweets.
