4ds agoLawyers for Westchester asked a state Supreme Court judge to toss out Legislature Chairwoman Catherine Borgia's lawsuit so it can proceed with a vote to remove her from her leadership position.
County Attorney John Nonna filed the response Thursday and argued the charter that governs the Board of Legislators allows the board to vote to remove a chair.
This stems from allegations against a former legislative aide brought forward by a group called OBL Global, which posted a YouTube video allegedly showing the aide sending lewd messages and pictures to a decoy 14-year-old girl.
In a public resolution, the board claims Borgia was made aware of these allegations back in December but allowed the employee to continue working until she fired him earlier this month after the video was posted.
The aide has not been charged with a crime, but the Westchester District Attorney's office is reviewing the case.
Borgia has refused to step down and maintains she has done nothing wrong. She also accuses fellow legislators of being misogynistic while attacking her for political gain.
