Coronavirus hospitalizations are nearly five times as high as they were a month ago in Westchester County, according to County Executive George Latimer.

At last check, 244 people are in the hospital which is up from 48 on Oct. 30.

Latimer says the county is in good shape in terms of resources, with over 3,000 hospital beds and 260 ICU beds.

However, he says if hospitals begin to fill up in surrounding areas, it's possible patients will be sent to Westchester hospitals and beds could fill up faster. "If they double over the next two weeks and we hit near 500 cases, then I think we're all going to start being extremely concerned…We have in the wings 110 units that have never been activated in the Westchester County Center. There's always been a little chatter out there on Facebook, people commenting why did we need to do that? Well, we're going to find out if we need it."
