Westchester County police officer dies in accident at home

Police say 42-year-old Alfred Mosiello Jr. was operating a backhoe at his home in Putnam Valley when he lost control.

A veteran Westchester County police officer died after an accident at his home Thursday afternoon, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Police say 42-year-old Alfred Mosiello Jr. was operating a backhoe at his home in Putnam Valley when he lost control.

Police say he was ejected before he landed between a tree and the backhoe.

He was pronounced dead at Hudson Valley Hospital Center.

Mosiello began his career in 2013 with the Pelham Manor Police Department.

He went on to join the Westchester County Police Department in 2021.

He was also a member of the Patrol Services Division.

Mosiello is survived by his wife and two children.
