The Westchester County Bee-Line Bus has reached a green milestone by adding more than 100 hybrid buses to its fleet.
The addition now makes the bus fleet 88% hybrid or electric.
"We've made this commitment," says Westchester County Executive George Latimer. "It's good for the environment. It's part of our effort to push back against our carbon footprint and global warming. It creates less emission at the bus stop."
The new buses seat 40 passengers and include things like bike racks, charging ports and driver protective shields.
Each bus has a price tag of almost $716,000 and about 70% of that is federally funded.
