Fire officials from Westchester and across the state conducted a hazmat emergency drill at the Cross County Mall on Wednesday.

Crew members practiced responding to a hazardous material situation.

Leaders emphasized the importance of coordination among local, state, and county departments. "We're always gonna be operating together when it comes to large scale incidents like this in Westchester," said Ben Schram, lieutenant hazmat officer with the Yonkers Fire Department. "Getting everybody prepared, suited up, and run through the motions, helps us run much smoother should the day actually come."
