Westchester County has officially reached the lowest number of active COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. County Executive George Latimer says 328 infections is the lowest count since March 2020.
And at least 61% of the county is partly vaccinated, which is higher than the state average.
If you haven't already received the shot, the County Center in White Plains is welcoming walk-ins for a one-and-done dose. “So if you walk into the center without an advanced appointment, you can get a vaccination—it’ll be the Johnson and Johnson shot. You can call ahead and make an appointment—you’ll get the Pfizer vaccine, that’s a two-shot,” says Latimer.
As for school mask policies, Latimer wants to make clear that the county is not in charge of those rules, but that the state makes those decisions.
