Westchester County marked Italian Heritage Month with the raising of the Italian flag at the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains.

The Italian Culture Committee of New York also honored winners of the annual Italian Heritage Month Essay Contest.

Among them, a second-runner-up in the English category hails from Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale.

This year's theme focused on the joys of learning the Italian language.
