Hundreds of students in Westport were ordered to shelter in place Thursday morning after reports of a suspicious person on campus.

Extra police units were sent to both Staples High School and Bedford Middle School after officials couldn't verify the identity of the person walking alone between the two buildings.

Police say it turned out to be a Staples student who had actually been dropped off at Bedford, and walking across campus to get to his own school.
