Hollywood is honoring the first "American Idol" winner.
Singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday.
Clarkson first entered the national spotlight as a contestant on singing competition "American Idol" in 2002.
She would go on to win the show's first season and her song off of the show became the year's best-selling single in the U.S.
Clarkson has since released nine studio albums, along with two children's books and now hosts her own daytime talk show.
She has won a slew of awards including a Daytime Emmy Award, three Grammys, and is the first artist to top billboard's pop, adult contemporary, country and dance charts.
Her star is now the 2,733rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the ceremony, American Idol star Simon Cowell said Clarkson’s victory paved the way for years of success. "And I remember that moment when your name was called, and I honestly, I was thinking to myself, thanks to you, we may have another season. I can honestly say to you, thanks to you, I'm here today."
