White Castle sells veggie slider
Just in time for the near-obligatory new year resolution to eat healthier, White Castle has launched its veggie slider.
The fast-food chain is serving the sliders in a soft launch in locations like the one in Nanuet.
A single plain veggie slider has 150 calories and 5 grams of fat; a cheeseburger slider has 170 calories and 9 grams of fat, according to White Castle. Even though the calorie and fat amounts don't seem to differ much, the restaurant says the veggie slider is "chock full" of vegetables like carrots, zucchini, peas, spinach and broccoli.
"Nothing compares to a burger, but it's good," said Christopher Callan, of Marlborough, who tried the veggie burger. "It's good for people that want to eat vegetarian."
But a little boy at the Nanuet White Castle disagreed. "I wouldn't eat it," he said. "It's vegetables."
