The White Plains Common Council formally asked Mayor Adam Bradley Wednesday to step down following his domestic-abuse conviction.

In a special meeting, five out of seven council members voted in favor of the no-confidence resolution, giving them the necessary numbers to request the mayor's resignation.

Mayor Bradley was one of the two council members who voted against the resolution, with long-time friend Dan Power constituting the second vote. Despite the numbers against him, Bradley said he will not step down and only plans on moving forward.

The resolution can't legally force Bradley's ouster, but council members say they hope it will pressure Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) to remove him.

Sources tell News 12 that an ultimatum is now in the works, calling for Bradley to step down or lose his law license.

Bradley was recently convicted of several charges in the domestic-violence case levied against him by his wife, but since none of the charges were felonies, he was not forced to resign.
