A cold, wintry mix slowed traffic on roads like Route 59 in Nanuet during the evening rush Friday.

Temperatures sank into the 20s and officials warned drivers of black ice.

For Logan Maurer, the conditions meant canceling her plans and just going home.

"I was going to go out Christmas shopping," she says. "But it's snowing now, and I don't feel like doing anything."

Forecasts showed about 2 inches falling across the Hudson Valley between rush hour and later at night, but not everyone was going to let inclement weather stifle their plans.

"It's winter time," says Eric Winston. "Enjoy it."

And some people are traveling anyway.

"I'm going to Long Island to visit my sister," says Carol Joseph.
