A special reunion was held Wednesday in Yonkers for a woman and her child to thank the people who saved their lives.

Back in July, a heroic rescue was caught on camera after Mirna Palacios and her daughter Leslie were pinned under a car in Yonkers.

Palacios and her daughter were reunited with officers Rocco Fusco and Paul Samoyedny and three good Samaritans who helped free them from under the vehicle.

"In so many places you see people with phones out filming things while that's going on," says Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller. "In this case Michael, Bart and Jose didn't take their phones out, they rolled up their sleeves and they helped."

Palacios says she is grateful to the officers.

The driver, David Poncurak, pleaded not guilty to DWI and aggravated vehicular assault earlier this month.

"This was a crime, this was not an accident," says Westchester District Attorney Mimi Rocah.

Palacios is still undergoing therapy after suffering a fractured femur. Her daughter Leslie recovered from a fractured skull and severe burns.

Poncurak will be sentenced in January. He faces five to 15 years in prison.
