More than a dozen fire departments responded to an explosion and fire at United Orchids in Bullville Thursday night.
Fire officials say a massive fire quickly spread through the greenhouse and nursery.
Ed Vanders, a worker at United Orchards, says the owner is in critical condition with severe burns at Westchester Medical Center.
Vanders says the owner was on the scene Thursday to check up on his flowers. He says the owner was letting air out of a propane line when there was an explosion.
"He's a young man with family," says Vanders.
The fire chief says the Department of Environmental Conservation had to be called to the scene due to a large spill of fertilizer. He says no waterway was contaminated.
