Sumo wrestling is coming to Westchester County. Two wrestlers from New York are among those competing.

The International Sumo League will host its first World Championship Sumo event at the Westchester County Center on Friday night.

The “Sumo Showdown” will feature 12 elite sumo wrestlers from around the world, colliding in over 40 matches on the 18-foot dohyo.

Bronx native Joshua Ortiz and Brooklyn’s Kofi Miller are set to compete for top honors.

“It’s going to sound like a collision…like a car wreck. You can barely take your eyes off of it. You see them fighting. You see muscles bulging, sweat dripping—and they’re using every ounce of power in their veins to take each other down,” says Miller.

The event is set to take place this Friday at 8 p.m. at the Westchester County Center. Click HERE for more information about the event and to get tickets.
