More than 400 tenants who are being impacted by a gas outage at the Palisade Towers breathed a sigh of relief Sunday, thanks to donations of prepared meals from the Yonkers community.
"I know things do happen. Peopleget a little bit frustrated, but you have to adapt and so far, they're doing good," said long time tenant Sharon Grant.
An estimated 400 tenants who live in eight buildings of the Municipal Housing complex have been forced to make do while waiting on boiler and other repairs to be completed.
"Throughout the weekend, we have been scheduling food deliveries, the last two days," said Yonkers City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy. "I've been here for about 12 hours and food has been pouring in, whether scheduled or they show up with goods. I just greatly appreciate the support from the Yonkers community."
More food deliveries are expected to arrive on Monday.
