Yonkers detective shot during arrest at bodega released from hospital

A Yonkers detective who was shot in a bodega in April left the hospital today to the cheers of dozens of fellow officers.
Video posted on the Yonkers police Facebook page shows an ambulance carrying 47-year-old Brian Menton leaving Jacobi Medical Center late this morning.
The 27-year veteran was shot as the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force was conducting an illegal guns investigation in the Nodine Hill section of Yonkers. Menton approached the three suspects inside a bodega at 115 Elm St. when one suspect opened fire. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bryant Jackson, was shot and killed by an FBI agent who returned fire.
Menton was one week away from retirement when he was shot, according to Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller.
