Yonkers firefighters respond to 2-alarm fire at New School Street building

The Yonkers Fire Department received the call just before 1:30 a.m. after firefighters noticed flames coming from one of the building's windows.

The Yonkers Fire Department reported an overnight, two-alarm fire at a building on New School Street.
The department received the call just before 1:30 a.m. after firefighters noticed flames coming from one of the building's windows.
The second alarm fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of the Jamaican restaurant located in the building.
About 60 residents from the building next door were evacuated, but were able to return to their homes after it was determined the building was not affected.
No injuries are reported.
