The Yonkers community hosted Friday its annual "Relay For Life" Event At Gorton High School.
The goal of the American Cancer Society event was to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones who died from cancer and raise funds to improve the lives of people who have been diagnosed with the disease.
"Everyone knows someone who has had cancer or they lost because of cancer but here, we celebrate the survivors, we celebrate the caregivers and then we remember our loved ones," said the event's Kelly Chiarella.
Organizers say $32,000 was raised for this year's event even before it began.
They say 40 different teams participated in "Relay For Life" which also included games, activities and food.
