A Westchester high school has a first-in-the-nation remembrance for our nation's veterans.
Gorton High School in Yonkers dedicated its Never Forget Garden on Wednesday.
The memorial is a tribute to the graduates of the nearly 100-year-old school who have fought for our country.
School officials say it’s the first of its kind at any school in the United States.
"Today as the honored guests, we are entrusted with that memory to carry on this legacy, to continue to mark that will not be erased by the annals time,” says Rev. William Norman, Yonkers director of Veterans Affairs.
Officials say the garden will be cared for by the high school's freshman class each school year.
The garden's dedication coincides with today's 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
