Yonkers man pleads guilty in 2020 fatal shooting
Jonathan Planas, a 34-year-old Yonkers resident, entered a guilty plea last week in county court to first-degree manslaughter.
Planas and another individual fatally shot 20-year-old Alvaro Viguera Medina as he walked on Lawrence Street in Yonkers. The incident took place in Oct. 2020.
Medina attempted to seek refuge in a nearby building but succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Planas, arrested a year after the incident, faced second-degree murder charges initially. The other individual involved remains unidentified, and authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the shooting.
Planas is set for sentencing in February.
