Yonkers officials announce creation of Revolutionary Yonkers 250

Elected officials said they are planning to conduct events led by civic leaders, historians and educators to give Yonkers residents an opportunity to learn the role the city played in our country's history.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and other local politicians announced Wednesday the creation of the Revolutionary Yonkers 250 to celebrate the United States' 250th anniversary in a few years.
They said they are planning to conduct events led by civic leaders, historians and educators to give Yonkers residents an opportunity to learn the role the city played in our country's history.
"Our mission is clear: Pay tribute to the city's rich historical legacy and ensure that lessons of the past, continue to enlighten our path forward," Spano said.
The announcement was made outside Yonkers City Hall.
