The Sharing Community food pantry in Yonkers opened its doors Thursday morning, ready to serve Thanksgiving meals to about 350 people in need.

Head chef Garfett Henry says he and his staff have been preparing Thanksgiving dishes and roasting turkeys nonstop for the past two days to feed all the people who lined up outside the pantry, located inside St. John's Episcopal Church at 1 Hudson St.

Nadine Burns-Lyons, of the Sharing Community, says the number of people they serve daily is up this year compared to 2007, given the tough economic times.

?Especially the newer clients we're seeing are depressed,? she says. ?These are the people who have lost their jobs, lost their homes, their apartments.?

Pantry workers say thanks to generous individuals and organizations, they have enough supplies to feed everyone who stops by.
