Officials from the Yonkers Police Department said they cracked down on unlawful mopeds, motorcycles and scooters during their "Half the Wheels, All the Laws" operation.
"We look to see if there's any mopeds or motorcycles that are being operated recklessly," said Detective Sgt. Frank DiDomizio. "We look to see if they're missing license plates, and we'll pull them over and we'll summons them."
DiDomizio said they conduct the operation a few times a year. He said their latest one resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old Bronx man and the impoundment of several unlawful vehicles.
"We got about 30, and we gave about 50 summonses during that time, too," DiDomizio said.
DiDomizio said the operation was completed in under three hours.
Some of the vehicles were towed to a lot in Yonkers that is operated by County Towing.
Officials from the department warned residents that another crackdown will take place in the future.
